Every single youth in our program has a unique and moving personal story to tell. A story about dreams, challenges, hopes, sufferings, and victories! Here we would like to share with you a few of these testimonies.
“If I in the future have the resources and I see the wish in youths leaving their orphanages to move forward, I would very much like to help. I love to help others and most of all when they have experienced the same as me.”
Mercy has been a part of Youth for Honduras since its beginning. She is an incredibly hardworking young woman with a passion for a better future for herself and others. As a matter of fact, it only took Mercy three months with Youth for Honduras to find a job. When it comes to housing, Mercy also has a beautiful story to tell as she is renting an apartment where four other young women from orphanages also live.
“The organization helps a lot — but in the end you are the one to make decisions for your own life!”
Ernesto is very dedicated to his history studies at the university. This is not a career many Honduran youths chose and, therefore, it is difficult to put together a full-time schedule. But Ernesto is hopeful and dreams of sharing his knowledge with the Honduran society so that fellow citizens will learn more about their cultural roots. Before his time in Youth for Honduras, Ernesto both worked as a firefighter and at a rehabilitation home for former drug addicts and youths with social problems. The latter, however, as one of those youth who had to learn a better way in life.
