The Life Train­ing Pro­gram is ori­ent­ed to­wards or­ga­ni­za­tions that work with youth who need to de­vel­op their knowl­edge, habits, and ex­pec­ta­tions for their own lives in the process of tran­si­tion. The pro­gram helps the or­ga­ni­za­tions pre­pare their youth to face the re­al­i­ties of so­ci­ety and be­come re­spon­si­ble and ca­pa­ble of reach­ing their goals.

Main objective

The main ob­jec­tive of the Life Train­ing Pro­gram is to guide and pre­pare youth from or­ga­ni­za­tions in the process of rein­te­gra­tion so that they can progress and be­come ac­tive mem­bers of the Hon­duran so­ci­ety.

Life Training Manuals

The Life Train­ing Pro­gram con­sists of two man­u­als writ­ten for youth aged 13 and up. They con­tain a se­ries of themes that should help the youth grow and se­cure them­selves. These are among oth­ers: im­por­tance of in­ner de­vel­op­ment, pos­i­tive in­ter­ac­tion with oth­ers, gain­ing la­bor ex­pe­ri­ence, prop­er man­age­ment of dif­fi­cult sit­u­a­tions, as well as main­tain­ing and de­fend­ing own ideas and opin­ions as an equal cit­i­zen.

All of the themes are pre­sent­ed in the same way cre­at­ing a con­nec­tion be­tween each chap­ter. The man­u­als en­cour­age the youth to work with and use their new-gained knowl­edge and, there­by, ad­vance in their de­vel­op­ment.

The man­u­als are di­vid­ed into two sec­tions, ac­cord­ing to lev­el of aware­ness and ma­ture­ness.

  • Man­u­al I, for youth be­tween 13 and 16 years of age
  • Man­u­al II, for youth from 17 and up

Each man­u­al con­tains dif­fer­ent themes, con­cepts, ex­er­cis­es, and pre­sen­ta­tions, as well as a guide with sug­gest­ed ac­tiv­i­ties for the in­struc­tor when plan­ning the work­shops.

Fur­ther­more, the man­u­als con­sist of an­nex­es, e.g. games and cards, to fa­cil­i­tate the ac­tiv­i­ties of the chap­ters.

 

Realizing the program

The Life Train­ing Pro­gram will be re­al­ized through work­shops in a com­bined the­o­ret­i­cal and prac­ti­cal way. From each or­ga­ni­za­tion in­ter­est­ed in im­ple­ment­ing the ma­te­r­i­al in their or­ga­ni­za­tions, there will be ed­u­cat­ed two in­struc­tors who can train the youth in their or­ga­ni­za­tion. These in­struc­tors will be re­spon­si­ble for pre­sent­ing the knowl­edge of the man­u­als con­tin­u­al­ly.

 

The Life Train­ing Pro­gram con­sists of four meet­ings:

  1. Train­ing at the Youth for Hon­duras of­fice (2 days)
  2. Process of re­view in the or­ga­ni­za­tion (1 day)
  3. Fol­low up on the col­lec­tion of ex­pe­ri­ences (1 day)
  4. Work­shop on rel­e­vant themes (1 day)

The work­shops for the youth in the or­ga­ni­za­tions should have a prac­ti­cal and an­a­lyt­ic char­ac­ter and, through ex­er­cis­es, so­cial ac­tiv­i­ties, elab­o­ra­tion of projects, and pre­sen­ta­tions, re­fer to the in­ter­est of each youth us­ing the need­ed re­sources to reach their goals.
